Hi, I've just published MaruReader, a new manga reading app for learning on iPhone and iPad. Features:
* On-device OCR for manga, no preprocessing just tap the text on the page for a dictionary lookup. Works with local CBZ/ZIP files, through the integrated web browser, or from screenshots of other apps via the Share sheet.
* With the integrated browser you can select text and look it up from the context strip in addition to using OCR for images.
* AnkiMobile and Anki-Connect integration for mining. The Lapis template is built in and most other note types can work by configuring custom fields.
* Yomitan term, frequency, and pitch accent dictionaries supported (kanji etc will import to allow for mixed content, but won't display). Recursive lookups for monolingual dictionary users.
* Local or online audio through an AJT-type index, or Yomitan audio servers. OGG/OPUS is supported but MP3 still included and recommended for AnkiMobile compatibility.
* Reading EPUBs also supported but if you just want to read local books, Hoshi Reader is better. (MaruReader is great for Kakuyomu, Kindle, etc on the web)
* Sentence furigana with Sudachi C mode and updatable dictionary.
* Free and open source (GPL3), no telemetry, no network connections besides what you initiate.
Since Kantan Manga is no longer in the App Store, as far as I'm aware this is the only free learning-oriented manga app on iOS, so be sure to check it out if you like reading on iPhone or iPad! With books, websites, and screenshots from other apps and games, you can use MaruReader for mining from pretty much anything!
